The Heart Of Serenity Within

About Serenity Within

The heart of Serenity Within 🌿

'Serenity Within grew from my own understanding of how overwhelming and demanding life can feel, especially in midlife. What began as a desire for peace and tranquility led me on a journey to slow down, listen inward and rediscover the power of gentle, restorative practices. From this place, Serenity Within was created as a sanctuary where others can rest, soften and reconnect with themselves in a way that feels safe, nourishing and true.'   Sharlene Smith

Meet Sharlene

From a young age, she felt a deep connection to spirit, sensing there was more beyond the physical world. This has shaped the gentle, holistic way she now supports others in finding relaxation, inner peace and balance.

Through her own life challenges, including anxiety and the effects of menopause, Sharlene understands how overwhelming life can feel. She holds a compassionate, nurturing space where others can slow down, breathe and reconnect.

After many years of working with spirit, her path led her to Reiki and yoga. Experiencing their deeply nourishing and restorative effects inspired her to guide others back to a place of calm and wellbeing.

Sharlene is a Reiki practitioner and
qualified yoga teacher, specialising in
slow Hatha, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
She weaves Reiki into her yoga classes,
creating a deeply nurturing and

restorative experience.

Sharlene's approach to yoga is one of
simplicity and slow and steady mindful movement, making it ideal for beginners and those who enjoy a slower more meditative-style class.

Sharlene also loves spending time in nature and on her allotment. She believes nature is medicine for the soul – calming, grounding and revitalising – reminding us of our deep connection to the Earth and all life.

'This is a sanctuary where nothing needs fixing or forcing, you are welcome exactly as you are'

My vision...

... is to create a sanctuary of calm and

tranquilty for those in midlife and beyond, especially anyone feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious or navigating the many changes this season of life can bring.

In a fast-paced world that constantly asks more of us, I envision a space where people can step out of the noise and
expectations – and simply be. Not by
fixing or striving, but by creating the space for rest, reflection and renewal.

My vision is a world where people feel

supported, grounded and at home within themselves, carrying calm confidence and clarity into their everyday lives.

My ethos and mission

I am deeply passionate about creating a safe and nurturing space for deep relaxation and inner stillness. Through slow living classes and retreats, I support those who are craving a gentler pace and a sanctuary away from the demands of a fast-paced world.

Through gentle guidance and intuitive
connection, I offer a space for self-healing
and self-discovery – a place to return to
balance. A space to rest and rejuvenate, to move, meditate and reconnect.

My intention is to help you find balance,
cultivate inner peace and experience the
deep rest your body and soul long for,
so you can return to life feeling renewed, grounded and at ease.

My values

🌿  Authenticity
At the heart of Serenity Within is authenticity – a commitment to creating a space where you can simply be yourself.

No expectations, no masks, no striving, just the freedom to arrive exactly as you are. Authenticity allows real healing, real

connection and a gentle return to the truth of who you are.

🌙  Peace
Peace is not just the absence of noise,

but a quiet strength that carries into

daily life. Through Reiki-infused yoga

and restorative retreats, I cultivate an

environment where peace can be felt deeply in body, mind and spirit, so you leave not only more calm, but more centred and grounded in yourself.

 Tranquility
Tranquility is the gentle exhale – the

stillness that nourishes and renews you.

At Serenity Within, I hold space for tranquility to unfold naturally, so you can soften, rest and find balance amid the demands of a

busy world.

Yoga styles I teach

Hatha

Hatha Yoga moves at a slower, steady pace with a focus on breath, alignment and mindfulness. Hatha is gentle yet powerful - building strength, flexibility and inner awareness as you hold each pose and connect more deeply with your body. It's the perfect place to begin your yoga journey. Poses range from standing, seated, kneeling and lying.

Yin

Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice with long-held floor poses that release deep tension in the body’s connective tissues.

It primarily targets the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and spine, but can include the shoulders. Yin improves flexibility, joint
mobility, calms the nervous system and invites deep relaxation. Gentle yet powerful, Yin balances the body’s energy, eases
stress and creates space for stillness.

Yin/Yang fusion

Nidra

Yoga Nidra is conscious deep rest – where the body sleeps, but the mind stays awake and aware. Through breath work, body scans, visualisation and intention setting (Sankalpa), you’re guided into a deeply restorative state that melts stress, eases tension and promotes self healing. Practiced lying down, it’s a sanctuary of calm, a powerful way to reset, renew and restore balance. This practice guides you back to a place of inner calm and serenity.

Yin/Yang fusion is where softness meets strength, weaving together slow and steady flow of Hatha Yang with the grounding and meditative stillness of Yin, creating a practice that nurtures both body and soul. This balanced practice creates space to move with intention, breathe deeply, and reconnect, honouring the natural rhythm between effort and ease all in one class.
